We now have NEW Opening times at the Little Shop of Fabrics
Take a look on the Contact Us page
We are a fabric and haberdashery shop selling quilting and dressmaking fabrics with lots of haberdashery stock plus knitting crocheting and much more.
We have been running for 7 years now and started out in Headcorn in Kent. We moved to our Smarden location in 2020 and have not looked back.
With free parking in our own car park you will have time to look at all our beautiful fabrics. We also have a spacious workroom that you can hire, come along to our craft sessions or join one of our workshops.
We hope you enjoy looking through our site and find everything you need to create your next new project. We are a small team working from our shop so if you have any questions or need inspiration, please let us know.
Moss Crepe
Crepe is a thin fabric recognizable by its irregular grainy or crinkled texture. Originally made of silk, nowadays the fabric is made of wool, polyester or cotton. Crepe is also known as georgette. The fabric is thin and somewhat translucent, yet sturdy and tear-resistant. Clothing made of crepe fabric drapes beautifully and hardly creases, making it a popular choice for summer dresses and bridal wear. However, crepe can also be used for curtains.
Project Linus UK
Our Project Linus Day
We are now proudly helping out the charity 'Project Linus UK'
Project Linus UK is a volunteer organisation. They aim to provide a sense of security and comfort to sick and traumatised babies, children and teenagers through the provision of new home-made patchwork quilts and give volunteers across the UK the opportunity to contribute to their local community.
We will now be a local drop off point for your Linus Quilts. Your quilts will be given to our local co-ordinator, and these will be given to the William Harvey Hospital. For more information press the button below.
We had a great day on the 31st March on our Project Linus day, making new quilts top and binding. Thank you to all the ladies that came along and we hope to arrange another day soon.
Longarm Machine Course
Amara Longarm
The Longarm Quilting Courses are a two day course. You need to book your first day and the second day will automatically run the following day.
You will receive one to one training on your first day, which will cover loading the quilt and how to use the pro-stitcher to be able to complete edge to edge quilting. You will also be given a detailed instruction book on how to use the machine. On the following day, you will be given the opportunity to bring along your own quilt to be quilted.
Once you have completed the two-day course you will be certified to use them machine and will be able to hire out the machine.
Longarm Quilting Service
We are now offering a professional edge to edge quilting service to those that would like their quilts quilted. We have a Handi Quilter Amara 10ft longarm machine with a prostitcher for computerised quilting. Our edge to edge service allows for longarm quilting up to king size with a choice of over 150 designs.
For those without the space we offer a simple basting service to piece together
