Christmas Markets

Did you know that Christmas markets date back to the late middle ages in the German-speaking parts of Europe and in many parts of the former Roman empire that included many Eastern regions of France. Dresden's Striezelmarkt was first held in 1434 and is considered the first true Christmas market.

Today, during the lead up to Christmas, most towns of moderate size across the German-speaking world have a Christmas market.

Several cities in the UK, US and Canada also hold Christmas markets, where visitors can enjoy traditional foods, favourite beverages including mulled wine. Many other handmade items, toys, books, Christmas decorations and ornaments.

We are very excited to be hosting our own Christmas market at the Little Shop of Fabrics on Sunday 5th December from 10am to 3pm. We will have stalls filled with handmade gifts and Christmas decorations. Refreshments including mince pies and mulled wine.

With traditional Christmas music as well, we hope to make this a festive day out. We look forward to you joining us.
